In 1603, Thomas Kyd looked down from heaven into the Globe theatre and declared, “what utter butchery! Confounded upstart Shakespeare! That’s not the Hamlet I wrote!” To which the unknown Dane skald chimed “and your Christian Hamlet was nothing like the real one!” And so it goes. Every poet a thief.

Immature poets imitate, mature poets steal. Bad poets deface and good poets improve - T.S. Eliot.
