Last week, the Department of Education announced that Columbia is at risk of losing its accreditation for violating federal anti-discrimination laws.

As a Columbia alum, I couldn't agree more.

In April 2024, Columbia University rose to national prominence for its famous “Tentifada” campout, sparking a wave of protests throughout college campuses across the country as pro-Palestinian students and faculty spoke out against perceived injustices in the Middle East. While many of these protests were peaceful and well-intentioned, several more fervent displays of political activity also led to violence and discrimination against Jewish and pro-Israel students, sparking a nationwide debate on both campus free speech policies and the nature of antisemitism.

Columbia, however, has failed on both counts.
