That’s absolutely not true. I can name several books by writers of colour that I sincerely dislike because I don’t think they have literary merit, although they may be about valid political issues. You are entitled to your view about this writer’s post, but you are not entitled to tell me what I believe about books. Nowhere have I said that. I don’t agree with identity politics. In fact, I will go so far as to say that the compiler of this list follows identity politics because whiteness is an identity, and it is an identity that has clearly informed her choice in books for her list.
